About
Olivia is a classically trained vocalist and Celtic harpist based in Kenora, Ontario. She holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from Brandon University and a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Performance from the University of Manitoba.
After completing her formal training, she moved to Kenora, where she established a private teaching studio and began performing and recording locally. Her performance highlights include singing the role of Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro in both Kenora and Thunder Bay, appearances as a guest soloist with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, and collaborative projects with the Lake of the Woods Museum.
In 2019, Olivia embraced a new chapter in her musical journey by acquiring a lever (folk) harp and delving into Celtic music—an early passion. Just months into playing, she began composing original works during the Bridge and Falls Creative Residency in Sioux Narrows. These compositions became part of Written by Water, a multidisciplinary project with visual artist Teresa Bowyer, which premiered at the Douglas Family Art Centre in 2023.
In 2022, she undertook a self-funded professional development trip through Scotland, studying traditional harp with master tutors and deepening her connection to Celtic musical traditions.
She completed The Water Spirit and the Opera Singer in 2023, a full-length story in the Celtic style. This work is the final installment in the Written by Water cycle, blending classical voice and Celtic harp in a unique exploration of folklore, place, and sound. An abridged version of the work was performed in Sioux Narrows in July of 2025 with TrypTych Concert and Opera.
Olivia was nominated for the Ontario Arts Council’s Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prizes in both 2019 and 2023. In recognition of her contributions to the cultural life of her community, she was awarded an Honorary Paul Harris Fellowship by the Kenora Rotary Club in 2021 for her commitment to the arts in Kenora.
She has also recently earned the title of Certified Therapeutic Musician—Certified Clinical Musician (CTM-CCM)through the Harp for Healing program, expanding her practice into the field of therapeutic music and bringing the healing power of live music to clinical and wellness settings.
